Join us for the journey of Lent, a time of reflection leading up to the ultimate celebration of our Lord's resurrection.

40 Days with the Holy Spirit

This Lenten season you are invited to engage in the discipline of daily reflection using Jack Levison’s book, 40 Days with the Holy Spirit. Dr. Levison is a professor of Old Testament at Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University, and weekend resident at Hideaway. It will be our privilege to have Dr. Levison with us on February 11 just prior to Lent in preparation for our journey with the Holy Spirit.

In a departure from previous years, this study is more focused on individual reflection than small group study. However, small groups are not only welcome but invited to meet weekly to discuss the book and their reflections on Dr. Levison’s thorough, biblically-grounded book. Consider joining us in this congregation-wide discipline of study which is “intended to prompt you to reflect at your own pace and to absorb, slowly and deliberately, the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life, your community of faith, and the world. (xiv)”

Books are available for $10 on Sundays, February 4 and 11 between 9:30 and 11:00 a.m., or in the church office.

If would like information, please contact The Rev. Pamela Leach or Phyllis Kidwell.

Lenten Sermon Series

On Sunday mornings throughout Lent, the sermons will be related to the themes of the church-wide Lenten study, serving as a topical preview of the following week's reading.

Even if you're not following along with the study, you'll find that the sermon series will help you frame the season of Lent, a time for reflection on your spiritual journey.

You can catch up with the sermon series over here, with audio recordings of the Sunday services, sermon summaries, and related Scriptures.

Thoughts on 40 Days with the Holy Spirit

As we journey through Lent together, look for thoughts about the study shared on the blog.

worship during holy week & easter

PALM SUNDAY | March 25 @ 8:30 & 11 am

The 11 a.m. service features a palm processional with bagpipes beginning in front of the church for the congregation as we commemorate the Lord's triumphal entry into Jerusalem and His ensuing trial.

MAUNDY THURSDAY | March 29 @ 7:30 pm

A service remembering Jesus’ love for us in the institution of the Lord’s Supper, followed by the stripping of the chancel, allowing an opportunity for meditation on our Lord's stripping before his crucifixion.

GOOD FRIDAY | March 30 @ 7:39 pm

The sunset service of tenebrae (Latin for darkness) remembers our Lord's traditional seven words from the cross, each with choral meditations following and a progressive extinguishing of candles and closing of shutters. This service allows the congregation to meditate on the cost Jesus paid to redeem us.

EASTER SUNDAY | April 1 @ 8:30 & 11 am

Easter services begin with the Good Friday darkness and move into the joy which Jesus’ death and resurrection bring to us through our Redemption.

Celebrate Easter with a church-wide brunch on the front lawn. Special activities for the kids will include Easter egg hunts, balloon animals, face painting, games, and more.

Note: Childcare is available during all worship services, and a special children's worship event is offered during the 11 o'clock service on Sundays. Learn more.
