“On either side of the river is the tree of life . . . and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.” – Revelation 22:2
Join us as we gather in the chapel for a Presbyterian Women Thank Offering dedication service to be followed by a tea in the Anderson Room. This annual celebration of God’s blessings in our lives is an opportunity to show appreciation by sharing those blessings with others.
One of the hallmarks of Presbyterian Women is our commitment to giving locally and across the US and world. Each year we participate in two major giving events– one being the fall Thank Offering. Over the past twenty-four years, the Thank Offering has raised over $24 million to fund nearly 2,000 national and international grants. Each year, grant requests are carefully and prayerfully selected by the Creative Ministries Offering Committee. Forty percent of the grants support hospitals and community health programs and sixty percent is used for new creative ideas for mission.
Fifteen projects were chosen for 2017 including Feeding America West Michigan, which uses a mobile food pantry to provide school children eligible for free and reduced cost lunch programs with 50 pounds of food per month. Their goal is to feed 3,539 children and their families for one year. Another is In His Steps: Pathways of Peace, a Breast Cancer Project in Palestine, Israel. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among Palestinian women and is considered an urgent health concern. Grant funds will be used to develop a culturally sensitive program of awareness of the prevalence of the cancer and possible causes.
Mark your calendar now and plan to attend. Presbyterian Women Thank Offering 2017 will change lives worldwide! Come be a part of it!
