The Diaconate oversees and provides support for the following committees:

Congregational Care Committee
Develops and oversees ministries
of care for the members of FPC. The
committee is divided into several groups each focusing on a particular caring
ministry. Some of these include:
Grief Ministry
Develops and coordinates ministries
to those in grief. Organizes
receptions following memorial services and holds periodic grief seminars.
Member Care Ministry
Contacts members who have been
missing from worship several weeks to express concern over their absence and
find out if further care is needed.
Card Ministry
Sends cards to homebound members
on a regular basis and to other members going through difficult times.
Prayer Ministry
Prays for and with the
congregation in various ways including providing and maintaining the prayer
boxes, assisting as intercessors in worship, as well as providing a prayer team
for confidential concerns and a prayer calendar in the Steeple Times.

Transportation Ministry
Coordinates rides to worship for
members who would otherwise be unable to attend.
Flower Ministry
Creates small flower arrangements
from the larger ones present in Sunday worship. These are then taken to members by different groups of the church.
Homebound Ministry
Coordinates visitation to
homebound members and others who may be lonely or in need. Assists in scheduling and preparing for
homebound communion and other special visitation efforts such as delivery of
poinsettias.
Stephen Ministry
Provides Christian care for
members and others who are going through difficult times by training and
supervising ministers to join in one-to-one, confidential, care-giving
relationships for the season needed.

Service Committee
Organizes and coordinates special service projects of the Diaconate, such as the annual OIT?Andrew's Center Christmas party.
Evangelism Committee
Leads the congregation in sharing
the Good News of what God is doing in our midst at FPC with our larger
community and inviting everyone to participate in God’s work in and through
this congregation.
Greeters
Welcome visitors and members to
worship and other activities at FPC with smiling faces and by assisting them as
needed.
Welcome Council
Extends a further greeting to our visitors by coordinating letters and brief home visits in a timely fashion to invite our visitors to return again.
Swanson-Yarbrough Guild
Develops strategies to reach out into the community to invite people into the life of FPC Tyler.
New Member Mentors
Assist new members in getting
involved with the life of our community of faith. This group also helps coordinate
new/potential member gatherings and classes on a periodic basis.
